If you want your guineas to eat things that are not their normal food you have to introduce it to them at an early age. They form their food likes and dislikes very early and are prone to not even trying different foods as adults. That was what I was planning to do, with mine also ..they are still just under 2 weeks old at this time..and I've seen posts on oregano having so many benefits.. I was thinking if it's something so healthy for them why not add it to their menu..if not I wouldn't bother..So I am just looking for any input or knowledge on the subject..So thank you for yours ☺
My chickens and turkeys devour pumpkins that I give them. The guineas at best will circle a pumpkin, craning their necks at it and eventually walk away without even trying it.
There are lots of people that make claims that have not been substantiated about different herbs, essential oils and other things. While there may or may not be data to substantiate these claims as to the helpfulness for people, there is even less data to support the effectiveness in animals which may react differently.
Most of the people making the claims of how good it works for their animals do not do side by side comparisons of controlled populations to see if there really is a difference.
My guineas do good with what they are receiving from me along with what they get while free ranging so I don't see any reason to increase my costs by adding something that may or may not make any difference.
Good luck.
