I know this sounds kinda weird, but listen to it's call.

If it is 2 syllable sound then it is a hen. If the only thing out of it's mouth is single syllable sounds then it is a male..

I may be deaf but it sounds like "come back" to me when a hen calls. Other people says it sounds like "buck wheat" or even "butt crack".. lol

This usually comes out of their mouths when they get separated from others..

I hope this helps..

It looks to be a male. The hens sound like she's saying Buck Wheat, Buck Wheat, Buck Wheat

IME, "looks" mean nothing when it comes to determining the sex of Guinea Fowl. If it buck-wheats or lays an egg, it's a Hen. Otherwise, it's a male, lol.

Sounds like it might be a male. The "clicking" sound your kids heard could be the typical male call that can sound like "chi" or "eh" repeated several times The hens can make the same call, though, so it may not mean that it's a male. Some females don't talk much, so you might need to wait until he or she lays (or doesn't lay) an egg to know for sure. But, if you hear the "buck-WHEAT" call (emphasis on the second syllable), then you can be sure it's a female. Some say it sounds more like "good-LUCK." I guess it depends on what kind of an accent your guinea has. LOL

Lol thanks for the help. its def. not mean doesn't attack us. but ill be sure to keep an ear out for the sounds it makes.
