Guinea Hen Laying

Well... she’s abandoned her first nest with 18 eggs in it. Laid a random egg in her pen and I haven’t seen her lay/sit since ‍♀️
Guess these are dud eggs and I’ll try to give her a better place to lay for next time!

Update Well she has been sitting her eggs 9 days now...so I guess they can be guided to lay in a certain spot for safety but nothing is allowed to go on close to coop no mowing nothing just carrying food in and out of cage.

Mine has 25 eggs as of today... she abandoned the first nest and made a nest in her coop (yay!) I was able to add all the first eggs to her new nest of 6 eggs and now she’s continuously laying in her new nest in her coop! Can’t wait to see if any hatch *fingers crossed*

Update... she laid her last egg in the coop on Tuesday.. hasn’t laid there since, that was egg 26.. I’m guessing she’s made a new nest somewhere but for the life of me, I can’t find it.. I’m guessing these eggs are not worth it as (some of them) are almost 30 days old and she hasn’t been on them at all. Ughhh this is frustrating!

Updated to ask ::

Is it possible for her to just stop laying!? I haven’t seen or heard any signs of her being on a nest, I’ve followed them all over the property the last few days and haven’t found anything.

Yes that is possible. Hey just because she is not sitting her eggs does not mean they are not viable. Most likely they are... I think you may be having a problem with something disrupting her. I was having a problem with my red hens bugging my girl while she is sitting infact one flew up and pushed her off her nest. I grabbed both reds and gave them to a friend...I have had no problems since. She is still on her nest and ever so often when she gets down to eat and drink she will stop by and check out the babies I incubated. Not that it's a connection thing for her but that it's a curiosity thing as to who is making that noise lol

BTW I caught the red hens via the game camera combined with a baby monitor. I heard the squabble then saw it on review of the game camera... I don't tolerate bully hens.

Yea I’m thinking my chickens (who for whatever reason, enjoy the guinea coop) May have covered her nest while they were scratching around and she may have gotten confused but I’m pretty sure she’s done..

But I also found someone coming to eat the eggs this morning so I’ll regime him and give him a few eggs for his trouble LOL

Oh yeah wow.. that would be enough to deter her if she is your only female guinea...do you have a broody hen? May be the place to put those eggs...

She is my only female
I’m currently looking for more females but haven’t found any yet.

Nope, my girls are all still too young to lay.

@R2elk

So, the first 26 eggs were donated to local wildlife, now I have 6 eggs I’ve found that I’d like to incubate. I have an incubator that I’m currently warming to get ready for them.

I’ve read 60-65% humidity until day 28 then crank it up to 80%, is this correct?

What is the correct heat?

The incubation period is 26-28 days?
Lockdown on day 28?
