Guinea Hen Thread!!

I wish I could do that with mine. I did for two years, but the second year it was a disaster. So now I shut it down completely and bring the koi in. It’s more work, but peace of mind for me. I think my ponds location is maybe just too open the our strong winds
I just keep enough water running through mine to prevent it from freezing. If I shut the water off it would probably freeze and kill everything but the salamanders.

Our pond froze solid during Snowmaggedon 2021! So solid that my Hubby insisted on walking on it... :thHere’s a pic of the pond with frozen table awaiting a romantic Valentines Day dinner...:lau It was frozen over for about a week. Amazingly, the catfish that it’s stocked with seemed to have survived the freeze without apparent issues!

Haha, it’s a quietly romantic looking location. 😄
Mine is still frozen solid. And likely won’t thaw till MAYBE the end of the month, if the temps stay above freezing during the day.
We had temps in the 60’s yesterday! If it stays nice we will start getting patio furniture set out and I’ll be able to enjoy my coffee outside in the mornings again 😁
