Hi all,
I hope someone can help me. I have 4 guinea fowl left from 10 from 2012. One male and 3 females. One of the females has been an outcast with these three and I feed her and water her on a perch in their pen. Lately, the last few weeks, she won't touch her food, not even her millet treats. She just sits puffed up with a baleful look in her eyes. her beak was growing long so I found a vet who would trim it, but she didn't trim it very much. She just drimmeled off the hook. I tried feeding her a soften mixture of her feed mixed with yogurt and water, but she didn't eat that either. They are five years old and I've never wormed them. They've all been healthy up to this point. She's still walking around and when I let her out of the pen she pecks around a bit. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Sounds like she may have intestinal parasites. Try deworming your birds with 3cc Safeguard GOAT dewormer in a gallon of water. This should be their sole source of drinking water for two days. FYI, it is always a good measure to try and deworm you birds every 6 months.

sometimes birds become stressed, especially when cooped on their season. letting her out to see the real world would best, atleast to have her natural meals of bugs and grasses. some birds eat less when cooped but feed alot when out to roam free.

Thank you. I have put the dewormer you suggested into their water and we'll see. I'll also do it again in April.

Yes they get out quite a bit. I have four and let 2 out at a time. I try to switch it up so everyone gets a turn.
