Worst hatch I have ever had! Humidity 65-70 % and temp in still air 100 to 101 ...some hatched, but very late...others just are dead in shell

When I figured that out I have open eggs and helped a couple....It is so sad! They were alive right up to the end! Every time something like this happens and I have to stay up half the night helping a little keet, I wonder how can anyone believe in abortion.....I am just heart sick. I was so careful, but made 1 bleed and it died...I feel like i killed it snif!

Very sorry to hear of this loss. It is always hard when they die so close to being ok. And don't blame yourself about the vein- if they were on their way out anyway, you did your best to help.

We had that happen. it's so sad. They seem to have shrink wrapped in shell. Realized the humidity was not what we thought. We just calibrated our hygrometers to find that they were 14% off

hoping that now we know our next hatch will be better.

It MAY not be anything you did - I had an excellent guinea hatch with 21/29 eggs hatching but ONLY the pearls and lavenders. ALL the whites died in shell with fully absorbed yolks. Only the whites died, no pearls or lavender - so something was up with those whites - either they had thicker shells or were tossed around by mom or who knows? But if everything else was perfect may have just been bad luck or something wrong with the little keets

You can open some of the dead in shell ones and post or compare with the eggtopsy thread to see if anyone could come up with a cause for you!

OUT OF 42 EGGS...I saved 8.....I think the humidity was ok ? But I have a still air and I think, maybe they just did not have the air circulation they needed, for the incubator is in a small ....really small bathroom with the door closed. I am going to get a fan for the next go around, Have not had this problem before....earlier in the late spring first batch hatched with put a hitch! Last summer when I started hatching eggs it was not so hot here in rural Kansas USA! IT IS HARD TO LEAVE DEATH AT THE BARN,,,SO TO SPEAK!
