As I mentioned in my other post...we are getting guinea keets on Friday. We are getting them at $3 each. The guy also has laying guineas (they just started laying) for $15 each. I've never bought guineas before...I'm wondering, is $15 cheap for adults???

$15 for a Hen that is laying eggs is a decent price. Single adult Hens (at least 8 months old) in my area go for around $25, laying or not. You have to think about how much time, energy and feed goes into a Hen to get it to that age... it's always way more than $25 worth on my ranch, lol.

Thanks for the input!!!

Anyone around my area (Georgia) know what they are going for around here???

In MS, they go for 10-12 each... I don't think that is a guarantee of laying though... They would be close though... I fed mine for 3 weeks... I thought they would never lay, until I found a nest with 75 eggs in my fencerow.

Disposed of them... They were developing and the hen rejected the new nest... So... I couldn't put them in an incubator because all mine were full sadly....

It depends on the location just like everything else. Here, $15 for a guinea is high, that's an early-spring price on a female of an unusual color. Usually adult guineas (male or female) sell for about $10. Though I can sell day-old keets all season long for $4 each...go figure

I think 12 -15 is average. I did get 12 hens once for 90 bucks for a friend. Never able to get a deal for myself like that though.

Not sure if they are a rare color or not..but both girls are Royal Purple...if that makes a difference!?
