Somewhere down in Texas
I lost a guinea keet to a predator the other day and today my 4 remaining ones vanished. Just a few hours ago I went out looking around their house area and I found a single guinea. The others haven’t come back after 3 or so hours, so I’m not really sure what to do. The single one is locked up in its pen. Any advice is appreciated! :)

The other guinea has disappeared in the last hour and I found a 4-5 ft. snake in their house just now, but no live or dead guinea in site. It didn’t have anything in its stomach either so… I don’t know. It looked like a copperhead, but was huge.
I've not dealt with snakes, but I wld imagine if the keets saw it and had a way to escape and hide, they would. Favorite places for my (going on) 5 wk olds is tall grass, under bushes, steps, decks, the pumpkin patch, etc. Good luck!:fl

They like to hide by the ac units if they don’t go to their house, so hopefully at least 2 will turn up there or in their house tomorrow.

I want to get more guineas soon possibly from ideal poultry, but want to see how many (if any) of these keets come back, and see if I can improve their housing area.

Yes, housing security is probably the most important part of their care. They can't see in the dark, don't have the best tools for defense, and seem to forget that they can fly, so rely on us to keep them safe. I hope they turn up. I use a pallet as their "front porch". This batch of little ones have figured out that's an awesome place to hide, and there's one slat missing so they can just pop up and scoot into the run.

Sorry to hear about your kissing keets! Any turn up today? I’m wondering about your snake - our Western or black rat snakes have been deadly to my keets.

I actually saw it again yesterday and it was a rat snake. It was so fast though, so no chance I was able to kill it. That single guinea turned up again, no others though. I waited a bit to see if the others would come, but nothing. So the guinea is with my chicks that are about the same size so she has some friends. (Oh, and she is a girl. She was clearly making the buck-wheat call yesterday)

Do the rat snakes eat keets?

I’m at a loss on what to do. I can see if I can order day old keets from ideal (the only place I can find that is selling them at this time) and drive to pick them up, but they aren’t available until the 25th, and they would be al lot younger than my current guinea. Like I said, I don’t know what to do. :(
