I don't have chickens, but our mentors here that do say housing them together is a bad idea bc guineas play rougher than chickens. Chickens end up defeathered, beat up,stressed, possibly mated, or dead. If they have separate housing, they say, when they're out free ranging, there aren't any problems.Glad you got most of them. I’m really sorry you lost some though.
My 3 new keets are 2 lavender and 1 pearl. I think 2 are boys and ones a girl, which make 2 of each.I’m going to house them with my bantams after quarantine. Is this a good idea? Brave is attached to some of the bantams, so I don’t really want to take her away from them.
I know how my boys "played", and it's pretty rough.
I understand your concern abt Brave being attached; I mentioned the remaining twin being traumatized. But I was just now outside watching mine- I have the hen in the kennel so all the keets stay close to it but getting to free range. Watching, I see that the twin is in the center of the younger ones; whatever it does, they do, and it watches out for them. In the coop, they snuggle up to the twin, climb on top of it- Brave will be ok.
