I have a Guinea with a hurt leg. I have isolated her but don't know what else to do with her. She won't put any weight on it so she just hops around on one foot. Her thigh area does seem swollen. It feels bigger than the other side. I don't see any cuts or wounds. She's eating & drinking fine. She want to be out free ranging with the others. I'm not sure if she may have hurt it jumping down cause they do sometimes roost on the coop. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could try a splint. Give it some stability so she can use it like a crutch. Use something like a popsicle stick wound with medical tape? She may be able to hobble along.
It sounds like a bone break, tendonitis or muscle strain. It may heal, who knows. if she's young, shes got a better chance.

Good luck,
M

Thank you. I was thinking about trying a splint. I will try that & see if it helps.

Are there any puncture wounds? It could be a snake/spider bite. Try the splint and just give her time. Good luck.

I didn't see any but my guineas are not as tame as my chickens. I will double check. Thanks.

I looked at the our guinea it seems like she has a broken thigh (femur?) bone. Any suggestion? Maybe a sling?
