My guinea accidently got her foot under the car tire as it was moving slowly!! (They are so curious and often come up to meet us!!) She is sitting most of the time, but hops around some, holding the foot up. Her foot is curled up, and I haven't seen her try to open it up. Without spending a lot of money at the vet, is there anything I can do for her?? It happened about a wk ago, and I figured if she didn't get infection, she might make it, but I hate it that she might have to hop around the rest of her life on one foot!! Any ideas would be appreciated!! I cannot put her down. I'm hoping for nature to heal it, but don't know if it will ever be okay??

You could try to use pipe cleaners to make a splint for her toes but sometimes it's better to leave it alone

Sorry, but I just saw your reply now!!! We just got her into the chicken house, and she mainly sat for a few wks. Now she hops around, or limps around. She puts her foot down for balance, but doesn't put weight on it. She doesn't put it flat down, just her toes down. Anyway, I'm thankful that she survived the ordeal and can get around! Wish it hadn't happened, but glad that she's doing okay!! Thanks for your concern!!

I made a little shoe for my guinea with gauze, then cardboard and then medical tape... Does this sound like a good idea? And do you have any further suggestions?
