guineas and the garden

I think it comes in 100 foot rolls. 3 acres is a lot of garden! I would fence it with deer netting. A couple rabbits or a few deer could do a lot of damage in a garden that big.

Got no deer here and the cat catches the bunnies. The bunnies also don't like the turkeys once they are large and in charge. The turkeys didn't bother the garden last year, which was nice and I am REALLY hoping that the guineas are the same. We have an atrocious fly issue around here.

They might be taken aback for about 15 seconds, but they would quickly get used to them.

What about ornamentals? Anyone had an issue with them damaging flower beds? Scratching about in the mulch isn't really my concern, I'm more worried about them eating plants. We had to permanently pasture the chickens because as far as they're concerned azaleas are edible.

Last year a couple of chickens ranging with the Guineas devoured the Hostas. This year, I have no chickens out, and the Guineas haven't touched them. The only greenery I've seen the Guineas eat is just a tiny bit of nibbling on grass and weeds. They are mainly looking for bugs.

My guineas never bothered my garden or flower beds. The chickens are the "trouble makers"

This is my first experience with Guineas. I have 3 keets in the brooder and 12 eggs in the bator. We have a large garden every year but intend to free range our Guineas. Our chickens are penned up. My husband bought me this book. http://www.amazon.com/Gardening-Guineas-Step-Step-Raising/dp/0739202502 Check it out. It is very informative and inexpensive. Hope this helps!

Mine stay in garden eating bugs and weeds but I have never seen them touch one of my plants or scratch in it!
