Guinea's Attacking My Chickens

Each group of guineas is a bit different. I can't say what would change anything except that in doing some research with other guinea owners, it seems that if you have a larger flock of guineas so that they form their own society, completely apart from the chickens, they may do better. I had four guineas and ten chickens at the time and they roosted in the same coop. I did separate out my guineas during the worst of the attacks, for two full weeks they were cooped up. The moment I let them out, they were at it again.

We just came in from nabbing our guinea's.

We were surprised by the fact that they did not yell, but they are use to us, but we still expected them to yell a little bit.

We put them in a temp. pen until we figure this out, today was just horrible for our chickens!

My guess is that we will re-home them, and soon, it's not fair to them to keep them in a pen when they are use to free ranging.

Tomorrow our chickens will be able to free range without worry!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, I really appreciated all the responses!

Sorry you're having such a bad problem.. I've had up to twenty guineas with my chickens and they've always gotten along pretty well, though they do pretty much keep to two separate groups when out of the coop (they share one at present but we are building a larger one just for the older hens and my newer chicks). I might try it again and I do think a larger group of guineas seems to work better for some reason... maybe they feel less insecure?

This is an old thread but hope some answer...My female guinea stopped laying last week and has been attacking not the red hens but newer and younger ones I have...and I may need to rehome if this does not stop.
Anyone seen this behavior improve or any action I can take to redirect her energy and bad habit all of a sudden?
She was fine while laying eggs.
Thanks

That is my experience with them. I had to rehome my four guineas that were raised with chickens because they began attacking my RIR hens. They left everyone else alone except the RIRs. After they began attacking my BR rooster, I put my foot down and rehomed them. And mine were very sweet and tame with us, just hated red chickens. Guineas are nothing like chickens and anyone who expects them to be will be disappointed.
I have this same issue with my reds.
