I’m having a very sad day, because my favorite kitty is sick and scheduled to be euthanized later today. I sipped coffee and looked at the window, morosely staring off into space... and the surprising antics of our guineas on ice actually made me laugh, despite how sad I’ve been. These are the juveniles; they’ve never walked on ice before, but our small frog pond has frozen over. They were slipping and sliding as they pecked away at the ice. Thanks for brightening my day, guineas!

Sorry about your cat - I had to have my husband take our 20 year old cat in when it was time. I just couldn't bring myself to take another pet to the vet to be euthanized.

Guinneas are comical and always make me laugh. We only have 2 left - there were 8 when we bought the place. I have no clue how old they are - at least 5 years old, lol.

We lost 3 the first year, 1 the next year, then our single white one disappeared 2 years later and a hawk got another shortly after that. The last 2 hang around the guinea coop pretty tight since we started winter. They come out to meet me in the morning when they need food or water, and in the evening they will come out and say hello. They have trained the kittens that guineas are not to be messed with, lol. Now I just have to get the chickens to give the kittens the same message.

Isn't it funny ("odd" funny. not "ha-ha" funny) how Mother Nature knows when we most need a lift?
:) :) :) for your guineas ...
and
:hugs :hugs :hugs for your kitty. We're here, if you need us!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty, it is hard to say goodbye. Your guineas are great skaters, if they keep practicing they can try out for the olympics.
Thanks! Love the idea of guineas as Olympic ice skaters! :lau Kitty is actually still with us! Whole family took him in to put to sleep, and he had an 11th hour stay of execution! He has been up and down and he’s not cured, but he’s still with us and has had many good times since almost leaving us. Thanks!!!
