Hi all,
Just got Chickens a few days ago. So excited. Already layers and very happy at that. Spoiled with lots of berries, juicing fiber and non-soy, non-gmo chicken feed.

I sing to them in the evenings, well I practice my music while watching them.... but they don't run away...so there is that.

Any ideas how to naturally keep flies away would be very much appreciated.

Looking forward to reading more from everyone!

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you are enjoying your new flock! And yes, it is very easy to spoil them completely rotten!

As for keeping flies away, sand is an excellent bedding to keep the flies away. It is a bit too dry for flies. Flies like damp decaying dirt. I use sand in my coop and run and I rarely if ever see a single fly. If you keep it clean, the flies buzz some place else.

Here is a link to a good thread on sand if you would like to consider it...

Enjoy your new birds and welcome to our flock!
