Gus can't walk!

I was sitting with Gus and he appeared to have a seizure. His eyes kind of glazed over and he lurched forward and his head and neck went limp..I thought he was dead and after a few seconds he came to. Is this consistent with the Niacin deficiency or something else?
Niacin deficiency can cause Neurological problems too, so lets just keep hoping this is what it is, remember to get plain niacin. Is he eating and drinking okay?

he is eating and drinking just fine and hasn't had any problems. He almost stood up a few minutes ago and is sleeping now
I am thinking this is a niacin thing, it does seems to hit them fast and since your not seeing any other symptoms other than the seizure hopefully you'll see improvement quick. Did you already start him on some? Bless his heart
Could he have eaten something out in the yard that could have been toxic?

I added the Niacin to his water and got him drinking some of it. I did take him and Lucy to a friends house for a BBQ last night and they were off exploring the yard but there wasn't much for plants back there other than grass and weeds.

What about pesticides do they use them or chemical fertilizers? these things geese are very sensitive to. Hopefully it is just the niacin because that is easy to fix. But in case you have any doubts look at the sticky at the left top of the goose thread it tells you how to do a flush if you suspect toxins. Hoping Gus is doing much better this morning already.

I was terrified at what I was going to find when I checked on him this morning but he was alive and talking to me when I entered the room. He's still having seizures from time to time but only when he gets excited, it's really strange. But he drank most of the water in his waterer so hopefully it starts working soon.

Wow so happy to hear he is drinking good, getting the niacin into him. I was going to mention also giving him the flush too but that may just take the niacin out of his lil body too so as long as you don't see any decline I'd just keep up with the niacin for now, but I do think I'd ask your friends about any fertlizers or chemicals they may have used in their back yard just so you know. Round up is extremely hazardous to our babies and to us. Most people have no idea.

Another quick question...Can I add electrolytes to his water in addition to the Niacin? I have a bunch left over from the day I brought him home.

Yes for sure add them, he needs all the extra nutrients he can get right now, sorry I am just now seeing your post been busy finishing up the goose house. How is he doing this afternoon?

The improvements he's made are remarkable! I heard a racket coming from the room and I went in to see what was going on and turns out he had stood up and wanted me to know about it! I let him out in the living room and he stood up and walked around just a bit before I put him back in his cage. Thank you soo much for the help and support! Gus and I would be lost without it! I saw your goose house on another thread! very cool! I wish I had the space for something as cool as that!
