Guy at TSC recommended some bird seed to me for my chickens a/ flaxseed oil in it. Is this ok to give to my girls in small doses as treats?

Since you specified treat only, I would. I'd give it randomly as a treat. I have this in shaker cans incase I need to call them all in from free ranging.

Oh shaker cans! Good idea! Thats what I planned on was just treats to get them to come back in but want to get them used to my treat call lol

I feed mine the Fruit and Nut mix by Royal Wing, everyday....good stuff, my birds go crazy over it. The hot pepper flakes is not going to hurt your birds nor is the flaxseed oil but better wash your hands after handling the hot pepper mix!

I would use it as a treat.
It's better than the low protein in scratch even if some other things are higher.

If I ate cheeseburgers every day and only cheeseburgers it certainly wouldn't be good. Having one every now and then is not going to make me drop over dead.
