Trying to figure out if this one is a guy or gal. Thoughts? He/she seems to be a dominant little critter in the flock. Anyone who gets in their spot they get nipped quickly and pushed out of their spot on the roost where you see them currently. Theyre actually one of the smaller ones in the brood, and mostly down feathers still while most of the other ladies have their wing feathers almost fully developed at 1.5 almost two weeks old this upcoming wednesday.

That's a cute chick!

Its a little early to be sure, but I'll tell you my experience with my Delaware. I ordered a female Delaware named Dexter (Dexie for short) who is very bold, larger than a lot of the others, and looks like a rooster! Unless there was a mix up, it's probably just a breed trait that my girl should act so bold compared to the others.
Dexter loves to sit on my shoulder or on my lap, she is one of the first to come to me when I sit down with my chicks.

Dexter at around 2.5-3 weeks of age

Beautiful little lady yourself :), she or he doesnt seem to mind me at all, if anything this one comes over and checks me over a few times, and sits down in the area around me, or occasionally sits on my hand and falls asleep. She and one of my Black Australorps are my favorite, the BA is nicknamed Nugget as she is the smallest of the brood.

I agree that it's too young to tell, and that they are a bossy breed. Two of my delawares (a pullet and a cockerel) took over the top spots in my young flock once they started growing.

The funny part is that they seem to be afraid of heights, they just eyeball the other chicks when they get up on the higher roosts in the run and coop.

When they start to develope, look for the comb/wattles first (although I though Henrietta was Henry for a while there because it turned pink first. But never turned red and never grew. At 12 weeks she is clearly a girl). The next thing to look for, around 8 or 9 weeks the boys started showing barring in their tail feathers. The pullet's tail has some black on the tips of the feathers, but no barring.

My avatar is my Henrietta at about 6 weeks, she has since started showing the breeds expected pattern.
