I'm just sayin'... 4 roosters and a smoker... you could have a really fun party. And the turkeys would all have peaceful lives again.

It is amazing to me how many people refuse to take personal responsibility and dump their problems onto other's laps, all because THEY would have hurt feelings if they actually took care of the problem to start with.

i founded 2 cat rescue organizations and know from experience that 'people' do this sh!t all . the . time...
admittedly, re: cats - the "taking care of the problem to start with"-part takes some foresight and money (=> a trip to the vet to have the little fuzzballs spayed & neutered). so you can probably imagine how often a former "personal responsibility" ends up purring on someone else's lap in the best scenario, or is simply 'disposed off' in as many ways as people's 'creativity' that knows no bounds (!) can imagine in the worst scenario.
the latter offers deep insights into the human soul.

@romea yeah, I have friends involved in rescue and one really awesome philanthropist who has set up a super low-cost spay/neuter clinic. You have to prove you live in this county to qualify. And yet STILL people don't get their animals spayed or neutered!!! Plus, they do some highly horrible things to said animals...

I have no patience for irresponsible pet owners, which is exactly why I don't work in any place where I would be working with those people. I would get fired so fast...

If you don't have chickens already, taking on FOUR roosters could be a challenge!! I have two roosters and 12 hens. The roosters about KILLED each other fighting for "top-dog" status. One of them ended up losing and eye and a spur. They get along now, as long as #2 stays away from #1 and his ladies. #2 has to get his "action" in back-allies and such, out of the sight of #1.

Point is...they are territorial, especially once they reach maturity. I'd be planning that BBQ and then post a sign saying "Please do not drop off your unwanted animals.". The nerve of people! A simple knock on the door would have worked wonders!

The other option is if you know other people with chickens who might want or need a rooster. We rehomed some roosters that way in the past when we had some overly aggressive roosters who liked to attack US.

Roosters usually fight less when there are no hens to compete over.
