Haalp I don’t know the exact age of my eggs

so a couple of weeks ago I put some
Guinea eggs in an incubator as an experiment to see if i could even hatch them.. they were from a nest that my neighbor found.. so we don’t know when they started developing...they were put in the incubator July 6th. I candled them today and at least one has a viable something in there that’s moving... They are on a turner... I’m worried that I’ll get a hatchling or shrink wrap someone before I take out the turner... should I take it out now?


What do I do??

You are a minimum of 14 days. Takes 28 days. When you candle what do they look like inside?

Get a very bright led flashlight with new batteries and candle in a dark room. This pic is for chickens but it’s generally the same for all fowl, the amount of days will be different but it should give you enough of an idea if they are in early, middle or late incubation. At hatch time the air cell will grow considerably larger, it’s called drawdown. It almost forms itself around the chick and then the chick will internally pip into the aircell. After candling if you feel like you are close to hatch then I would candle once in the morning and once in the evening. When you see the drawdown happening then it’s time to lockdown. I don’t lockdown any of my eggs until I see this.

also when you guys candle do you take the egg out of the incubator? and if you have to do all, just do one at a time?

Awesome! You can candle them just like you’re doing in the video. I hatch ducks around 28 days and those might even be a little earlier. But I’ve never done guinea eggs before. That egg looks great, very healthy!

Well I took the eggs off the turner yesterday (day 18 for chicken eggs, and 25 for the guinea eggs) and not a moment too soon, woke up to a hatch this morning!

we got one more guinea chick, another pipping and a chicken chick piping too!!! yaaaaayers!
