Hi all,

We had a little shock on day 18 when I went to remove the roller and a little chick was pipping! He/she hatched quickly at lunchtime and when i checked the next morning we had fluffy chick number 2.

I left them in for 12 hours (so chick 1 was 24 hours old) and then removed them to the brooder.

It is now day 21 and nothing from the other 10 eggs, no movement or cheeping, they were all fertile when candled on day 10. To make matters worse when i went to remove chick 1 he put up a fight and i ended up knocking 2 eggs and they have a slight crack in them, no blood or membrane poking through but seriously panicking I have killed my first hatch!

Is this normal to have the rest not start hatching when the first does? Did the drop in humidity taking the chick out cause damage? Should I take them out and candle them or will I damage them further?

So i candled one when I went to top up the water,, most of egg is obviously full and a nice sized air sac but no movement

Well day 22 today and can't see any moving the few times I've checked on them.

Though not sure if day 21 or 22 as we put them in in the afternoon 3 weeks ago yesterday

We have left them be, just confused as 1 chick arrived on Wednesday lunchtime and 1 overnight wed!thurs but nothing since

I candled 2 when i topped up the water yesterday, good sized air sack but no movement but presume they don't move much once they get to the size where they fill all the shell.

I didn't candle very well last night, just to see size of air sac, i had planned on candling them all before lockdown on wednesday when I removed the roller but then saw a chick was pipping and so quickly removed roller and left them alone. I'm reluctant to open the incubator for risk of causing any harm
