Had to bury my 19 chicks today.....

I'm glad to hear you have turned the corner... Still I'm sorry you had to go through yesterdays experience

sorry for loss, did the dog get around them when they were small? My dog seems to be obsessed with my 10 day old chicks, but he doesn't show aggression towards them. I hope he can get along with them when they are older, wishful thinking maybe?

Oh man...Our sibe Got one of our rabbits..Ate its head and neck before we noticed..Our fault for not locking the hutch door. She hasnt been able to get to the chickens..If she does it again we will be burrying the husky with what ever she kills next..Its nice to have a dog as a pet, but no matter what they need to understand they cant kill on your property PERIOD. If they continue to do so either give it away or have it put down. There is no room left at our home for stupid dogs. You know the last straw...Also , Sorry for your loss..We know that heart sinking feeling you get when you realize what has happened...Sucks

They were about 5 weeks old. Some big some still small. All had feathers. My dog loved them when they were tiny. She guarded them like my other dog still does. Lilley (beagle) actually ran away for a couple of hours at our cabin this past weekend. She broke thru the electric fence and attacked wild turkeys. Now because of this her natural instincts kicked in we think is the reason she probably did this. The door was left open and that was her in. She knows there are new ones in the garage. So far she just paces in front of the door, that was yesterday. Today she is no where near it.

To the poster that thought he was rude, you werent. We love our beagle and would never replace her for anything. She is part of our family, she is a great dog.....gets into trouble but still a great dog!
