Some people need to read all of Old Geezers posts he didn't just throw the chicken out in some open field or such, he states he put her back in the chicken pen from where she came, i'm sure with 8 ft high fences she is protected from predators and most likely this neighbor where she was taken to has a chicken house in the pen so she will have somewhere to roost.
I don't blame him one bit for doing this and respect his decision. It is HIS decision not ours and really some of you people are being quite harsh, you might not agree with what was done but it was his decision not yours. Also I didn't see anywhere in any of his posts where he was asking for sympathy. I mean read the title to his post HAD TO MAKE A HORRIBLE DECISION
I also agree with him that this used to be a really nice place to come chat and post messages and share with other people. Used to you didn't see these harsh, sarcastic replies to someones post if we disagreed with what was said we would word our replies nicely or just DON'T reply at all but lately it seems someone has a smart alec reply to almost anything that is posted. I mean come on lets face it we are all different people and its not likely that any of us do things or handle situations in the same way.
Not saying or posting this to any person in particular so don't get all twisted just saying WE ALL need to think twice before we reply, and re read what we are posting before we hit submit, just remember all of us have feelings and they can be hurt.
Old Geezer, I hope you don't leave the site, there are some of us around that still know how to act and how to respect our elders.
Hope your girl is better back at her old home. Leghorns are known for that behavior. I think it's been bread into them when they turned them into little egg machines. I got a few in my last shipment that I would like to send back. They are in their very own brooder cause they can't behave. I'm gonna have to pine tar everyone just to get them back together.
I hope your other girls heal up and give you plenty of entertainment and eggs.

This is because it's very easy to be rude and judgemental when you're not actually conversing face to face with another person. OK, for some people it is, but for the most part, manners and civility have gone out the window because it's so impersonal to be on a computer typing words instead of actually speaking to another human being. Did anyone stop to consider that the previous owner may have told OP to bring back any problem birds? I know he didn't mention that, but it's still a possibility.
Oldgeezer, I'm sorry for the decision that you had to make. We have to do what's best for the whole flock. If it means getting rid of one troublemaker, then that's what has to be done - in a way that works best for each of us. Everyone's situation is different.
