It really does not matter if you run or hold your ground with a rooster, they don't care one way or another. I have an OEGB that will try to get at my ankles, I just ignore him only because it makes me laugh. He is so tiny!
Try to be assertive, but not agressive. Don't yell, as yelling will only make matters worse. Project positive energy, not negative. (I know all you wanna do it yell and kick, but that makes it worse)
Get yourself a little water gun and fill it with vineger and water, next time he comes at you, squirt him right in the face. The smell of the vineger will deter him and he will learn that trying to flog you is a bad idea. It will not hurt himm, maybe sting his eyes for a second, but he will live to remember you don't make a good target!
Most roosters start to get agressive this time of the year only if they think you are a threat to thier hens.
If you can find yourself a real saucy hen to put with him, that is ideal as she will usually put him in his place quickly.
A friend of mine had a nasty silkie rooster and she had to carry around a rake until she got a hen that doesnt put up with his patootie!
GOOD LUCK!!
