It is one of those round 24 hour clock with "pulls" that one uses to set on/off times. I said manual but it gets wired in so clock works. I have a closed plug cover to help with dust.

Oh, OK...manual as opposed to digital.

Sol (itary) now freely goes out of AND back into brooder.

Also mixes with the flock down and into run, so far has not gone from run back to coop.

No Roos!

It is relevant to Sol's integration that I have a hen-only main flock.

I switched over past late summer&fall; forward I will do controlled breeding (1 over 5) in a covered breeding pen.

Sol soldiers on...

When I checked on Sol's whereabouts in the run, it came running towards me. Last one in the run and almost knew I would relocate to the coop. Instead, i placed it on the ramp and herded toward the pop door, entered on it's own.

It spends the day in the run; from the way it drinks and eats after I move back into the coop end of day appears not to be getting enough water at least (consistent with dispensers in the run).

Growing, seems strong and able to escape the lazy efforts to peck.

Change of pace, Sol remained in the brooder or under the adjacent suspended nest boxes yesterday.

Too much attention from the flock? When I watch it does not seem so, does have "free" time when not dodging other hens.

Sol is integrated with the flock, goes to the run and does not return.

I have ended up transporting it after dark into the brooder space in the coop (guaranteed access to food & water).

Any suggestions on how to train?

It seems he is already trained, since he is finding is way into the coop at the appropriate time. I would train them to come when called. A whistle or "chick, chick". Just use your recall cue when you are bringing dinner. When they are responding to that, bring out some treats (i. e. sunflower seeds or watermelon) and call them.

It is okay that they associate the whistle or chick chick to imminent food. Later you can give them something they like that isn't food, a swing maybe or access to something.

It is not "finding it's way into the coop" unless I pick it up.

I was carrying it out of run and into the integration brooder (inside coop, under drop board) am now placing it on the platform outside pop door then herding it through and inside. Platform is 3'+ off the ground with a 6 foot ramp, Sol has not yet put 2+2 together.

Crazy but good?

Sol comes to me when I arrive just after dusk, tonight i set it down on platform and it squirted through the pop door & inside.

I will start on "ramp training" next; where/how to find bottom end of a 6-7 foot (3+ rise) ramp?

Clear that a "Sol"itary chick needs lots of attention.
