We had a small hail storm go through yesterday. I was worried about my chickens out in their run so I ran to my window to see if I needed to go out to help them. What I saw had me practically wetting myself! All of my hens ( all 13 of them) except my 2 roosters were running all around their run trying to catch the hail stones after they bounced on the ground! They kept running around pecking at the hail & then spitting out the hail they pecked up while shaking their heads. Then they go after another stone only to repeat the process! My roosters were starring at them like they were crazy. By the time I realized I should be recording it & grabbed my phone to do so the storm had passed. Then all my girls lined up along the fence starring towards the house as though they were mad that their supposed feast was all a lie. I felt bad so I went out & gave them some meal worms to make them happy again. I will never forget that sight though. Was so funny!
thought I’d share a laugh with everyone. Not a single hen was hurt. Stones were small. Smaller then a pea.
