Glad to know mine are not the only ones, i have plenty of hen for my 2 roos but the youngen is relentless! He has most of the with roo patterned baldness!

Ok I agree it must be a cochin thing. My two frizzles and my "regular" cochin are always sportin' the Sinead O' Conner look during the summer.

I think they go broody just to give it a chance to grow back...

I don't think it is just a cochin thing, my BO roo "Charlie Harper" is proud of the roo patterned baldness he maintains in our flock of 15 redheads, blonds and two spangled.

When the dog killed one however, he was very sad and hovered over her grave for a day! So at least he loves his ladies, but they most definetely belong in the hair club for hens.

I have a game hen who has a bald head, and has had one for three years. But hers isn't rooster pattern baldness, its one of her survival wounds from taking on a hawk over her first batch of chicks.

She's brooding for the fourth time this year... I should get a video of her to show ya'll. If bonnets are made, I bet shed wear one proudly baha.

Yep, my cochins are the ones that get all the attention from the roosters! I finally broke down and ordered two chicken saddles off BYC! lol

Omygosh - this is funny...my grandmother makes chicken saddles (she calls them shawls) and I swear, this week I am going to design a bonnet...I will take pictures and post it...All of my neighbors chickens are bald...poor girls, I know it must hurt too...their heads are actually raw...I am getting to work on it, lol...

I can't imagine a "bonnet" that would actually stay on and/or not be used as a strangulation device by amorous roos......my hens are not that kinky...I think they would prefer to remain bald than be strangled while being "wooed".
