Half a chick and still alive

Thank you!

I did something someone else did on here and I can't remember who but I was concerned about burning a red heat light in my house while I had them in the bathtub, so I took some hardware cloth and bend it on two sides ( 5+ inches high, about a 16 x 16 square) and then put a towel over it. Under that I put a heating pad covered with several pee pads. They would sleep under it just like if it was their momma and when the pee pad got dirty I just took it out and another one was there to replace it. Now I have them outside in the coop in their make shift brooder with it. I did have to use a heat light for the last two days due to a mild cool front.

I guess if Itsy is a roo I could got it Mr. Itsy, lol. We call our BO roo Mr. Buff.

Ah, would that be Mama Heating Pad? I love Mama Heating Pad!

Yes, that's the post. I had a heating pad and our Toy Fox Terrier is litter box trained so it just worked perfect. I put several layers of pee pads over the heating pad to keep it dry. I put gorilla tape on the edges of the hardware cloth so no sharp points to hurt the chicks. By bending down the two opposite sides it stands all by itself, then put a towel over it. Works great!

Update:
Yesterday I noticed Itsy was standing on just one leg. This has not gotten better. Today she's not trying to stand at all so I've moved her into the house in her own box with a heating pad, water and feed easy to reach. It seems her little body is giving out, not sure why but I'm going to make her as safe and comfortable as I can.

Well, I'm sorry to report that little miss Itsy went to the great coop in the sky this evening. For some reason her legs started to give out on her and after that she just gave up.

Pfields I am so very sorry to hear this news … Miss Itsy touched so many lives and was a very special little one.

She knew nothing but love during her short time here and kudos to you for ensuring that was the case.
