We had one of golden comets go broody almost 2 weeks ago. We moved her because she was in a bad spot and now she has her own area. She sits on her clutch of 13 but frequently gets up during the day. Its been super warm here. We candled the eggs and there is definitely development. 3 days ago she started laying eggs again. The only reason we noticed is because she broke the egg she laid and left her clutch alone. I'm baffled by this because everything we have read said they get up once or twice and she gets up alot more than that. I guess I'm looking for advice on what to do. This is the first time we have ever had a broody and I know they aren't normally a broody breed. Thank you!

No other hens can access her nest?
No shes separated in her own area at the end of the main chicken run

Your hen may have given up and is returning to normal behavior.
Do you have another broody or incubator?
I had a sex link hen I rescued from
A factory farm who went broody and successfully hatched chicks and was a real good mom.
Good luck!
I don't have another. Her behavior has been like this almost the entire time. But it's colder here today and she's been on them alot more. I guess I'm wondering if she can successfully hatch them half broody? We have been taking out the egg she lays because we don't want her to accidently break one of the others. Thank you!
