I have a hen setting on her nest of eggs in order to hatch. In the beginning there were 11eggs. Today there are 7. At 2 other times when I went into the coop there were 2 half eaten eggs with part of a baby chick. I do not know what's eating them. Any suggestions??:(

Is your coop totally predator proof....1/2" mesh or smaller on every opening??

Have you examined the nest to see if there's any pests in the nest?

Sometimes a bad broody will at eat eggs...they could have stopped developing.

Is she getting off the nest and eating drinking pooping once a day?

She is getting off the nest & eating & drinking. I close the gate to the fence but haven't closed the door to the house. Will start doing that. If it's a bad broody & she's pecking at the eggs what do I do to stop her & how do I find out if that might be it?

Set up a game cam?
But is your coop safe from small predators.......like rats?

Will go look for cameras tomorrow. Maybe Lowe's orDucks. This is frustrating to say the least.
