Last year my roeun duck had 6 ducklings and 2 of them looked like a yellow tinted roeun duckling.
Only one of them lived past 2 months. although when the other one died I'm almost sure it was a female because it did have some feathers and a female quack.
They turned out just like they looked like when they were ducklings
At the time she was born we had 2 roeuns (male and female), 2 male call ducks, and 2 pekins (male and female)
This year we had 3 sets of ducklings hatch and none of the ducklings that looked like that lived but 2 of them had an all black duckling with a lighter but still black bottom side.
Only 1 of them lived to start getting feathers but when it was almost done with it's first set of feathers it died which I'm guess is related to when it hurt it's leg when it was little and couldn't walk very well.
Although he was a male. Because he died I couldn't see what his male feathers would look like although its first set looked like normal rouen patterns and colors.
So could it be that the all black ones are male and the yellowish ones are female half rouen and pekin?
All the ones I can find online are a random mix of white and black patches on them.
Thanks!
