A couple days ago my son's favorite chicken laid an egg that was half softshell and half normal. I made sure to put out oyster shell, and they’ve been eating it. Today she looked egg bound- straining to release an egg- and we checked her vent and it’s leaking clear fluid- looks like egg white. What should I do? My 3 year old is attached to this particular chicken. She is a 3 year old rock bantam.

Here’s some pics

She got it out! Now to figure out how to get her to eat some calcium. She keeps dodging me. She’s my most people wary hen.
Glad she was able to expel it!
Grab after dark when she's roosting, it will be much easier to give the Calcium then. Just open her beak and pop in the tablet.
I would give her extra Calcium for 3-5 days - see if that helps with the quality of her shells and makes it easier on her.
