Hi everyone. I've lurked here for probably a year now, off an on. Long before I ever got any chickens. I used the site as a means for educating myself on my ambitions. But, here I am, now the proud owner of 3 lovely girls. I've had them for over a month and I still have pick names out for them (which is rare for me, I name everything!).
I have a white leghorn (she will let me pick her up and "scratch" her back from time to time)

An Australorp (the black beauty with the green legs, she's the most curious and bold)

And an Ameraucana (the most flighty)

We got them when they were just over a year old. Coop, feeder, waterer, feed, hay, bedding, 3 chickens for $120. I thought it was a great deal. They lay an egg a day right now and put themselves to bed at night. They're fun.
I'm currently attempting a backyard orchard to accompany my regular garden. I have 2 grapes, 2 raspberries, a satsuma, a Dixieland Peach, a few roses, a guava, 3 dragon fruit, 2 pineapples, and a papaya tree. These are all in containers since I don't own my property. I also raise rabbits, have a dog, 2 cats, and a husband.
