yep!Has anyone ever seen a chick with one 5 toe foot and one 4?
i hope she makes it for you! Thanks yes our coop is very secure but these boys were out in a run BC they're on the freezer camp list. Not a big loss this time but still frustrating. All of our other losses have been while free ranging. Being in southern WI we crested 100* this summer and we will probably achieve -30 or worse this winter. Not very hospitable conditions for any dog to live outside in. Plus we already have two dogs and several cats and can't really afford another dog. Although we have discussed it it's not something were prepared for right now. Besides if we can take out the predators (coyotes and fox at least) then we won't have such a problem.
Thank you all for the congratulations. Please keep rooting for little Miracle she seems to be oozing yolk from her navel. Seeming to confirm that she not only ruptured her yolk sac but also that she somehow managed to absorb some of it. I've had to clean her up again and she is definitely going to need some snazzy shoes to correct at least one of her feet which hasn't straightened out. To add insult to injury it got glued to her paper towel bed and she couldn't move.
Poor little girl. Still rooting for her and I'd love it if everyone could spare a few cheers. Her footwear is going to have to wait until later when DH2B gets home. In the mean time I just want her to rest. The little olive eggers chick is in with her now and it seems to have calmed her although I still feel worried that she could get hurt by the other one I think this is the better choice. Her navel has still not closed and I'm wondering how much more yolk will use from her tiny belly. I hope she heals up well and doesn't continue to ooze. Then again perhaps all the infected yolk will ooze out that would be good.
Thank you guys for cheering Miracle and I on it means the world.
Love them they are awesome looking! Looks like a great meat line!
is she on any antibiotics yet?
great news!! he looks determined!!uPsIDE DoWN ChICk UPDATE:
After laying on his side all day and looking like he would die any minute; he got up and started to walk around. I now have guarded hope. The sad part is I almost pulled the plug three times. I hate watching them suffer; but I left him alone. We will see how determined he is. He was determined to ask for help by pipping his own breather hole on the wrong end. He was determined to rest until he could muster the strength to stand. He is very small compared to the others.

cute! no idea though sorry!that's her, I'm not 100% sure but with the brownish stripe down the back do you think silkie x Rhode island red sounds right?
and she is 100% Black, black skin, comb, beak. My novice guess would be the silkie x black Australorp. Im also not 100% sure because I was quick to judge but I believe that there are some barred rock crosses, and if my knowledge serves me right the spot on the head would indicate males? Right?
AWESOME!!!! welcome!!!I'm getting blue, buff, and gold laced Wyandotte eggs.
Which will be going under a broody hen
