HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

I will be setting duck eggs on Tuesday. Does that count? I think I will be asking a TON of questions. Never did ducks before. Big white ducks....pekins, maybe?
Yep that counts, they should be hatching in early October, and yes sounds like Pekins @MotorcycleChick has had luck with them

I am REALLY tempted to set some eggs. But it is too late in the year. I tried a September hatch one year and they weren't big enough before winter. I ended up having 3 chicks live in my laundry room until spring.

I keep telling myself it might be a late winter. They could be big enough, right?
LOL three chicks in a laundry room! I bet they were spoiled chicks too!! the best kind!

I like Halloween
Me too!! I love decorating for it and one of my sons always wants this theme since his bday is close too, so baking his cake and making food stuff is really fun.

Welcome! Ducks are cool to hatch and raise! If you know how to keep their brooder clean the first few weeks and how to establish a clean area!
@bauerdog in the notes section of the incu friends thread is tons of hatching info for you to look through, and YES you will run into October hatch! scroll down to the duck section that is in a spoiler..... NOTES LINKS & Informational POST LINKS - BackYard Chickens Community

In my signature is a duck care link, see the ideas that I have learned work well with keeping clean with ducks!

Yep, it's time to get the incubator going again. Started birds sell quickly in the winter here.
I know! I wish I had room to grow out more, I would do most of my hatching now, and sell layers come spring!! everyone waits and then they have to wait until fall to get any eggs!! And over winter so many people want laying hens! Welcome over!!

I can't even find the current batch a home.... Nobody buys chickens in winter here. It doesn't help that I'm wayyyy out in the sticks...... Nobody wants to drive 2 hours for roosters! :/
