HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

Not a clue. He was fine, then he wasn't. Now, he is fine again. Hubby thinks maybe he ate a spider or something toxic that took a few hours to clear out of his system. We don't treat our yard with any chemicals and the food we feed is an organic feed safe for multiple species of poultry. So, not sure what it was, but I hope it never happens again.

I like what you said. That's a cool way to think about it...lol!

28 is cheaper to feed than 60.

 I don't know about that. Sixty bantam chickens are cheaper to feed than 28 turkeys. LOL!
I just got rid of four drakes a few weeks ago. Those buggers ate a lot!

Good morning all! I candled 25 eggs last night and it appears my roos that were hanging out in the silkie pen were not playing with the girls.... All silkie eggs seem clear. I have 1 egg, that was super old, from back when we had roosters running around, and it's developing. So, I left them all in, but I'm only expecting 1 to hatch....

Hello, sorry about the infertile.

I'm only getting 10-14 eggs now.
SET ALL THE EGGS!

Well, I was going to hatch some CCL for the hatch a long but my girls stopped laying and today, I lost my roo

I have my lavender ameraucanas seperated now. The girls are young and haven't started laying yet but combs are red and they should be starting very soon. Hopefully, with any luck, they'll start laying in the next couple weeks and maybe I'll get to hatch some for October. I'm thinking of seperating my silkies too but we'll see. Now, I need to find a new CCL roo. That will seriously teach me not to have a backup

He was a handsome and sweet boy and will be missed.

I'm sorry

Our little early bird was out yesterday morning. It's super cute and was a really fast hatcher. Not sure on color and it is either not pure silkie or not good quality as it only has four toes whoch isn't a big deal to me but after hatch it had a clearly defined comb. I'm thinking boy probably. Poor baby is all alone for several days. It would be too cold in our house without a heat lamp and the cats would go nuts. It's hanging out in a large strawberry container in the bator. Hopefully the hatch will go a little early.
Hope the others start hatching soon

Down to 26 from 41, weeded out the infertiles and 3 bad blood rings and one that was apparently cracked and oozed out all over the Turner, that's gonna stink

I guess he would've let me get some heritage Ameraucauna/Black Leghorn hatching eggs yesterday so....
I'm taking it as a "sort of" yes.

He knows I'm hard to live with.

LOL so did you get the eggs?

my drakes dont eat the food i give them, my chickens go into their house and eat some of it, but they dont eat much either
i go through a bag of layer and a bag of allflock/game everyother month right now, though i am sure that will go up in the winter when they cant graze
