He had fluid built up in his ears, so besides having ear infections all the time, they said it could be making sounds muffled, which would effect his speech if he can't hear straight. He passes all his hearing tests, so they assume the muffling/speech issues were related to his tongue tie, and fluid in his ears (hence the tubes to drain fluid for the next 12-24 months.) Once he has the tubes for a while and once they fall out, he most likely won't need them replaced, but we will see, it depends on if he starts getting chronic ear infections again. It's better to get tubes, then use antibiotics constantly.this is great news! the tubes provide relief as well>?
If we tried to do speech therapy, it wouldn't help if he has a hearing issue, and a tongue restriction problems, so before I put him into speech, I wanted to rule out and fix any actual physical problems that were contributing before we went down the therapy route to catch up any language difficulties he might have. how they treat his speech is also based on if it's an actual developmental delay problem, or if it was a physical problem.
