HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

This all makes me wish that I had babies to hatch! Sadly my DIY incubator got destroyed in a dog/child related accident...
i'm sorry to hear! I have a baby and dog too...I can completely understand how easy that can happen though

baby #2 is out!!!

First baby is fluffing out nicely.

3-4 more eggs are pipped, but no zipping signs quite yet.

Here's my last silkie hatchling in with the cochins, I'll be removing him and placing him with the silkies once I take them out of the incubator. He doesn't seem very bonded to these guys, and I think I may throw them in with my ducks... since they will be full-sized cochins not bantams.

so... I think my internally piped eggs died. It has been around 36 hours since i noticed it. This is the 3rd hatch this has happened, I emailed Brinsea customer service to see if they have any ideas. I really hope they do I have tried everything I can think of.

I opened the incubator to check on the upside down pip and was hit by a HORRIBLE smell! The upside down pip is still alive and the smell wasn't coming from that egg. I took out the 3 serama that looked like they had collapsed air cells and opened the tops. All where dead, and sure enough one smelled terrible with a green yolk

I cant stop smelling it!!!! I didn't touch the egg with my hands but I washed like a dozen times. The smell is in my cloths so I changed but I can STILL smell it! The incubator still definitely smells BAD and I'm worried about my other eggs.

I'm really bummed about the 3 serama late quitters one even had a fully absorbed yolk

My first hatching experiment has been a good learning experiance for me. Out of my 12 CCL shipped eggs 3 were broken 2 were stinkers 6 were clear and the last 1 quit sometime after day 7. But 2 of my EE are doing just fine, loved seeing them stretching their little feet! I think I may be addicted as I have more shipped eggs resting before they go in incubator #2!

good luck with the next batch!!

My husband doesn't usually say anything. But he did think we might have too many when he asked me how many birds we had and I couldn't answer. I knew how many was in each pen, the brooder and the incubator. But, I didn't know the total.

I only can keep 2 avg of each breed... soooo
Dark Cornish, Lakenvelder (Silver), Naked Necks, Sebrights... have quite a few Easter Eggers looking good in the Incubator too, come from Pink Eggs, so probably a few of those too. Some Hmong I just got too. I will likely be rehoming most of the Araucana boys too...so far only know of one for sure male...Ginger...he constantly is getting out of the brooder, running around and chasing the cats and dog lol... he's a character.
