HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

SO FRUSTRATED WITH BYC RIGHT NOW!!!

I hope this posts.

so the second upside down pipper hatched without issues, but the one who pipped day before yesterday, was still in the shell and the Egg was developing a smell so I decided to assist.
It had one wing partially out and as I opened the hole I saw a bunch of fluid build up at the base of the wing. I opened the Egg further and saw the yolk was absorbed, but the leftover hatching gunk was green and smelly, along with what looked like a bunch of the dark green first poo chicks produce. The navel was also not closed and had a large clot of blood hanging from it.

I think the wing may be dislocated or something. this is also the wing the head was tucked under.
I cleaned the green gunk off and washed the navel in saline before putting a bandaid over it. The chick is wobbling around and drinking, and pooing but it seems like the swelling has gotten worse.
you need to disinfect the umbilical, do you have iodine or betadine -best
neosporin, bacitracin if you dont have iodine based stuff

We have chickies!!

We candled these eggs... Sunday or Monday. 9 looked great, so hopefully they all make it! I am trying so hard not to disturb them, but I can't help it! I am hearing a lot of noise! Chirping, tapping, cracking, movement. There are at least 2 out, but I have only seen one so far.

Congratulations, look forward to more pics.

it's mainly the big fluid bubble at the base of the wing that has me worried at this point. The navel is almost closed and looking clean.

I'm still putting ointment in the eye of the chick from last week. Now I have another freak hatch accident :he

wish me luck! With both of the other hatches I've done this year, I've had 2 babies die right before hatch. Hopefully it doesn't happen this time.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

have 3 new chicks this morning. the serama that hatched last night & 2 serama X EE. Both the upside down chicks are alive but still working on getting out of their eggs.
CONGRATS!!!!!

I forgot to add in my post that I did put on bacitracine. I was having a heck of a time first logging on, then actually getting what I wrote to post without disappearing
good! i would worry about the navel first, when you can upload a pic of the wing
