Awe, congratulations!
Hubby discovered our first button quail this morning. We have another one tonight.
Wow...small doesn't quite cover it.What itty bitty little things!![]()
I'm not entirely certain that button quail are MY thing.![]()
If I can keep them alive, I'll be doing well.![]()
Of course when I have a house full of monogamous pairs, y'all can throw this post in my face...![]()
They remind me of a bumble bee that's been hit by a tennis racket.
I wouldn't call them cute. They're more....interesting like pink, baby mice.
I think chicks are more my thing.
Here's the pics...

Good luck with your broody hens!I have another Australorp nesting tonight. I haven't actually seen it, was only told about it, so I haven't assessed the situation. I will keep a close eye on her and her behavior the next few days and see what happens. If she is wanting to brood, that will give me 3 November mommas. We'll see how it goes! My two Brahmas are doing great so far. They switch nests frequently, just depends on if someone else gets in their nest boxes to lay while they happen to be out. If so, they just move to the other nest! Lol I haven't candled the eggs yet, but will in the next couple days. They will be easy to candle because these two hens are so calm and laid back. I can pick them up if need be, but they are usually off their nests at the same time every day for a good hour at a time. Makes it very easy to check for new eggs, and as I said, will make candling eassy.
A couple questions (if this next hen does want to brood):
1. I am thinking of adding some white egg layers to our flock, and Duke loves the Polish chickens. Does anyone have a mixture of Polish eggs for sale if we decide to go that route?
2. We also want to add Dark Brahmas. Does anybody have Dark Brahma eggs for sale if we decide to go that route?
We live in SE Idaho.
Congratulations!
I know cute lil things!!!! they love TP rolls to run through! lol congrats!!Hubby discovered our first button quail this morning. We have another one tonight.
