Halloween/Scary/Horror movies

American Werewolf check.

The Others AWESOME!

Polter was okay when I was a kid but looks lame now.

Shining, check.

I forgot about Amityville... that movie had me freaking out for YEARS... don't even remember watching it, but the freak outs traced back to when uncle and whoever were watching it... guess I snuck in? Weirdness, major weirdness.

Thomas Harris is scary brilliant... have SotL, Red Dragon, Hannibal, Hannibal Rising... all excellent.
I was rather peeved with how they handled the film Hannibal though... TOTALLY blew that ending, complete 180.

Of course breaking out Interview with a Vamp is good too... actually I'm rereading Witching Hour (also Rice) great series... love her Vamp books, though IwaV makes me cry when Claudia is toasted... book OR movie. Still mad about how they botched the QotD film though... seriously, you couldn't even pay to bleach his hair!??!

Hmmm... what else... Brotherhood of the Wolf is odd... donno about scary, but odd.

Ohhh Pan's Labyrinth... that was a scary one... it's the human monsters that always scare me the most... and if anyone has seen it, was the last line in English or did I just get so used to the Spanish that the last bit autotranslated?

The Fog, the 70/80's version with Adriene Barbeau (sp). Not because the movie was that scary itself, but because I had to walk 2 miles to get home on a foggy country summer night.

Jack Nicholson was awesome in The Shining. But then...he IS Jack Nicholson.
Among the best in the business.

But the old Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte...Bette Davis....now that is a movie
that defined Horror in my childhood. That head bouncing down the staircase.
Scared me for years.

I agree with you on how Queen of the darn was completely butchered by the screenwriters, and the ending of Hannibal... Why? Why ruin the author's intent? I love all Anne Rice's books! She write beautifully! I was actually thinking of rereading The Witching Hour as well. Must be the season!

LMAO! I just hit "preview" and saw that the censor's changed QotD to "Darn". Doesn't quite carry the same Oomph!

I'll have to check that one out. I think I've sen clips, but never the whole film.

I just wish Kubrick could have gotten someone other than Shelly Duvall to play the wife in The Shining. Those teeth got to me after awhile.

However, I like the Simpsons parody (that's strange ... the blood usually gets off at the second floor)

I've heard the version with Rebecca deMornay is better and truer to the novel.
