Ham-N-Eggs, my goofy coop

In the very first photo, there is a door that will open for ventilation, I am going to monitor it. It will not have a solid floor, and will be on 10" wheels when finished. It is really a "tractor". There should really not be much poop build up with an open bottom.

The big door between the nesting door and feeder will also have a "screen" door. Screen being 1 x 2 wire, like around the bottom. I have to finish this thing today. I have other projects begging for attention.

I Love it!

But I would totally agree about the lack of ventilation, but that could be an easy and perfect fix! Cut in a BIG window like on the model shasta, hinge it so it can lift up and be held open like the tin awnings the Shasta road trailer might have had and make your window with hardware cloth.

My friend has a teardrop he made and is redoing a scottie right now.

Once I finish with the interior/exterior of moms place.....I wanted a canned ham too!

This thing is rockin. Great work. The lower ventilation is plenty, but maybe add a few upper vents, you can cut out holes and cover them with hardware cloth for that. Paint the hardware cloth the same color and you'll it's almost invisible that there is a hole there.

Guys,

The entire bottom of this thing is "open". The big "door" can stay open, and the little door on the other side can stay open as well. Does it still need to be chopped up more? I'm also thinking of winter, and the need for it to be closed up. Hard to see in the pic, but that is poultry wire on the bottom "floor".

Speed, If I need to, i could cut out some of the side "windows" that are just painted in place...

In the winter you will still need ventilation. Not so much for the heat as the humidity that hens produce. It can cause their combs to freeze. Also hot air rises. You need an uppper ventilation system of some type. Henged windows are great. It is unique and very pretty. It shows so much imagination. I would hate to see the chicks get sick in there. good job.
