Also, does anyone have any experiance keeping them confined? They say they don't do good if they are not free ranged.
 
No. Citrons are either spangled or pencilled Gold with the Recessive Lemon gene (ig/ig). Crossing Golds and Silvers would give you Gloden males, and hens the same color as there fathers.
 
The Citron Hamburg breeds true, based on my experience. They do fine in confinement. They are not a touchy feely bird, but they have not been terribly flighty for me. They are still a work in progress for me as relates to tail color. If someone is interested in bantams, then these birds would be a good choice. They are beautiful, active, good layers of good size eggs for their size, and are surprisingly meaty little birds. Hope this may prove of benefit to you.
 
All my Hamburgs did well with confinements like in a coop and run set up. Never tried putting them in cages for a lifetime, only for hospitalization or show purposes.

I kept a trio of Hamburg bantams in a 2x8 pen all summer, they did great.
