Hamburgs

Here are some pics of my Silver Spangled Hamburgs. They are free range, so they aren't as pretty as they could be. They are very cold-hardy! They are one of the few chicken breeds that I have that are still laying regularly.

Just goreous! Thanks for sharing!

Here is the pic of mine: (all bantams)

Here's my new girl, Porcia! I bought her at the PPBA Stockton show.

I had heard hamburgs are extremely obnoxious and flighty, and don't like to be handled, but Porcia is an absolute sweetheart! Hardly a peep out of her and she doesn't mind being picked up at all. I think she must be a bantam, as she's slightly smaller than my sebrights.

This isn't the best picture of her (what is going on with her tail there?), but trust me when I say she's absolutely stunning in person.

You can bet she is a bantam and the way she carries herself and the type, I bet you it came from Jim LaGendre's lines or directly himself. Jim is a very nice gentleman to work with and I loved to chat with him a few years ago.

With her tail, it is either picked off or went thru a molt or going thru a molt. In due time, she will regrow back her tail as pretty as ever.
