But from my experience the specific quote is not always accurate

I found that all babies are skittish and go crazy when we grab them. However once they're older in the two-month range they will start realizing that we're not a threat and slowly start following us around the yard and come closer and closer..
However that's my experience I have seen people cuddle up with baby ducklings and it seems like to duckling doesn't mind. I also know ducks can hurt themselves by being too afraid at a young age... just like humans too much stress is bad and could affect the mortality rate.
