Hand Turning Quail Eggs!

The simplest way I found if you can use the egg cartons and just tip the whole bator. That's if you can get all of them in the bator with the carton then when hatch tome comes I just leave them in the carton to hatch. I've had great hatches this way so far

All you need to do to hand turn quail eggs is to lay them on their sides in the bottom of the bator, then lay the palm of your hand flat on top of them and roll them around a bit. No need to turn each individual one, that would take forever!!

2. it's litterally snipping off the tip of one wing (very small tip) it takes off (perminantly) the first few flight feathers so the quail can never fly and so you never have to worry about wing trimming and them moulting when you don't expect it and flying away like i had happen before LOL. Again though it's not for everyone theres blood involved but I've never had a quail die from it :)and they heal amazingly fast

i like the sound of this.... way easier when your in a rush in the morning as i seem to be every morning.
what about the water? does it not spill? i have a hovabator and the water is in a sort of moat.. mine i stop turning in 2 days .. do i need to add more water also? would this be why i only got two out of the last batch...Japanese quail eggs
thanks :)

Do you have a specific time to do it?
Humm, I reach in and stir the eggs several times a day and don't worry about whether I do it perfectly. The mothers don't turn perfectly every time and I don't think it is nearly as important as we think it is. I keep hatching quail so I guess not.

I used half an egg carton to tip the incubator back and forth several times a day. It worked well and avoided handling the eggs too much or opening the incubator and messing with the temps.
