Hi, I am Debbie and I have been raising rare and heritage birds for many years but had to sell my farm many years ago and now am just getting back into raising chickens again. I have true Ameracauna, Icelandic and some assorted hens, one Barred Rock, one Ayem Cameni, one old Silkie frizzle I just adopted due to being picked on, one Blue Copper Marans and one Black Marans.

I would like to help the Barred Rock with a prosthesis. She came to me yesterday and has a valgus deformity, poor girl. Her owner was well-meaning but new to birds and the damn breeder gave her a chick with this deformity. They have been raised as pets and I feel really bad for the girl. Does anyone know where to buy a prosthetic or how to make one?

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Oh gosh I am so sorry about your girl! :hugs I have no idea where you might find prosthetics for chickens. You might have to search out rescue and rehabilitation facilities on line, there might be something out there. Good luck with your girl!

Welcome to BYC, Debbie! There is so much to see, do, and learn here! :welcome I am not familiar with prosthetics for chickens, but hopefully someone else will be able to help you!
Thanks, I found them on Google but no place to actually order or ask questions. It doesn't look very hard to make so I think I will do some research and practice. She is a beautiful girl and is hopping around on the one good leg, she needs some help so badly.
