Thank you very much! We definitely love her!Hello and welcome to BYC, You found an Amazing Poultry Community to be a part of with many great knowledgeable members, who are more then willing to jump in and help you along your journey with any questions you may have.
That is so sad. but it sounds like you are a great care provider..... and that is what is most important. Kudos to you!
Thank you! I really like those ideas.Hillary, I've seen homemade chicken chairs and slings. Some people make them from fabric hung like a swing.
Good luck with her.
Thank you! And that’s great on you giving Maxie a great like. Chica’s legs were broken right at the hocks so her legs are folded towards her check. She can move her feet and use them to scratch herself. She basically moves around on hocks and uses her wings to propel herself. She is definitely one tough, determined girl. She was in bad shape after being shipped that way but fought to live. And she also fights off all other chickens, even bantam chicks to protect herself. She doesn’t want to be around other chickens at all.Kudos to you for helping this baby. One of my Cochin Bantam chicks has feet that look very similar to your baby's. However, Maxie can walk, and most importantly for me, she doesn't seem to be in any pain.
One cool thing about "handicapped" animals is that they don't realize they are different; they are just the way they are, and they live with whatever limitations. Maxie may be slower than the other chicks, but she's just as determined as any of her siblings to snatch a piece of juicy grape out of their beaks.
Good luck with your little one, and a very big welcome to BYC!
That’s really cute, but I don’t know how it would work for her. Her legs from her hocks on down are folded up towards her chest.
Hahahahahaha- You got mother load hehehehe have no idea how I got that in 3X'sThank you!
