Hen can’t use left leg

Hi, i have a Rhode Island Red, close to 6 years old. I was holding her and she pushed off on my hand. When I put her down she could use her left leg. It’s been a week. I have been putting her in a secure area in the daytime and putting her back in the coop at night. She sits in one spot most of the day. Stand periodically but isn’t able to use left side. Only eats what we hand feed her. It seems to me that she doesn’t put weight on the foot because she has no control of her toes. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks,

Hi,

Did she hurt it somehow that you know of? I'd check her leg over to see if you can feel a bump or possible broken bone. See if it feels hot anywhere. Check the bottom of her foot for bumblefoot or any other possible issues.

If she's eating/drinking/pooping normally, you could try soaking her legs in warm Epsom salts for 10 minutes or so and see if, afterward, you can tell what's wrong by comparing her legs. That should feel good for her, though.

You could give her 1/2 of a B-complex pill daily, and/or Poultry Cell or Nutri-Drench in her water every other day.

Is she limping on it or totally not using it?

Thank you Debbie. She doesn’t use it. Hops on right foot if absolutely necessary. Those chick chairs are cute.
I will soak her as you suggested as you suggested. I couldn’t tell anything when trying to figure out whether leg is broken or not. Soaking will be good for better examination. I will look into those vitamins as well. Thanks!
