I have been told that it is dangerous to handle your baby chicks. I was informed that until they get feathers that you should not handle them because it will make them sick. Is there any truth to this?

No, I handle mine daily from the day I bring them home. Some are just 2 days old.

I have 8 adult lap hens.

i give mine a day or two to settle in to their new home then i start to handle them everyday

I think this is an old wives tale told to keep kids from constantly chasing the chicks all over the brooder. I don't believe it myself, but it is what I tell my nephews just so we all avoid catastrophy

Altho I do assume babies are more suceptible to diseases, but as long as yu wash up before and after . . .
